The portrayal of Alexander Hamilton's life, set in the late 1700s, is both inspiring and heartbreaking. The musical transcends time and fascinating owing to its masterfully addressed themes of affection, loss, forgiveness, and aspiration. The tale is artfully told through hip-hop, featuring a multicultural cast of black and brown actors. “It assumes an exclusive meaning when you see black and brown entertainers narrating the genesis of our land,” remarked musician Lin Manuel Miranda.

The Guardian expressed on the show's distinctive setting and shared only laudatory remarks. The author expressed, “Its rousing opening scenes recollect us of that great American concept of equal rights and address slavery and civil rights in the 18th century. “I never anticipate making it past 20. Where I originated, some get only half that,” chants Hamilton at the start, and his lyrics echo the precarious destiny that awaits so many of America’s black or immigrant disadvantaged class now, as talks around Black Lives Matter protests have emphasized.”

It’s undeniable - the musical score of Hamilton is unlike any other theater musical. The variety of musical elements, including hip-hop, pop, and R&B, distinguishes Hamilton apart from other musicals. Throughout the musical's 46 songs, the characters sing and rap about 20,000 words at a pace of roughly 144 words per minute. In addition to its many accomplishments, Hamilton the Musical attained something a handful of stage shows have achieved: a Pulitzer Prize. This well-received musical secured one more accolade to its trophy case when it earned the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2016.

Fun fact: The lines in "Guns and Ships" claim the title for the fastest spoken lyrics in Broadway musical history. It’s absolutely a breath-stealing song!
