The depiction of Alexander Hamilton's life, occurring in the late 1700s, is equally uplifting and heartbreaking. The musical transcends time and intriguing because of its masterfully addressed themes of affection, loss, forgiveness, and aspiration. The narrative is artfully expressed through hip-hop, featuring a diverse cast of black and brown actors. “It adopts a distinct meaning when you witness black and brown entertainers narrating the genesis of our land,” noted composer Lin Manuel Miranda.

The Guardian commented on the show's unconventional context and shared only positive opinions. The author expressed, “Its energetic opening scenes recollect us of that great American ideal of equal rights and mention slavery and civil rights in the 18th century. “I never foresee making it past 20. Where I come from, some get half as many,” sings Hamilton at the start, and his words resonate the precarious destiny that is in store for so many of America’s black or immigrant underprivileged class now, as discussions concerning Black Lives Matter demonstrations have highlighted.”

It’s a fact - the musical music of Hamilton is unlike any other Broadway musical. The range of musical genres, encompassing hip-hop, pop, and R&B, distinguishes Hamilton apart from other musicals. Throughout the musical's 46 songs, the cast sing and rap roughly 20,000 words at a pace of roughly 144 words per minute. Besides its numerous accomplishments, Hamilton the Musical achieved something a handful of stage shows have achieved: a Pulitzer Prize. This well-received musical garnered one more accolade to its trophy case when it secured the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2016.

Fun fact: The lyrics in "Guns and Ships" hold the title for the fastest spoken words in Broadway musical history. It’s truly a remarkable song!
