It is chock-full of some of the most beloved songs in the world, and has been teaching the world to sing since 1959. Completely defying its age, it is still the passionate romantic intrigue, still the resonating tale about overcoming adversity, still the unparallelled theatrical experience it was when the previous generations were introduced to it, and will continue to be all of that and more for many more years to come.

Ever since Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, alongside esteemed playwrights Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, created ‘The Sound Of Music’, it became clear that it has been destined for worldwide success.
A musical with a larger amount of adored numbers is yet to be written; no musical has ever been able to remain relevant despite its age as ‘The Sound Of Music’; and a tale as heart-warming, yet touching on major social issues, is yet to be created.
No other musical has been revived as many times, had more performances around the globe, and has been received with more acclaim than ‘The Sound Of Music’. It landed no less than five Tony Awards, a Theatre World Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Special Award, alongside many nominations. ‘The Sound Of Music’ has also been adapted into an award-winning film featuring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, still being enjoyed to this day.
‘The Sound Of Music’, inspired by Maria von Trapp’s ‘The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, follows the tale of Maria, a free-spirited nun, who takes on the massive task as governess for Captain Georg von Trapp’s seven children, and brings much love, happiness, and of course, music, back to the family. The family is faced with many adversities - from the imminent Nazi-threat brought about by the Anschluss to the inevitable romance between Captain von Trapp - man who vowed to marry another, and Maria, a nun.
It’s undeniable: there is plenty to love about ‘The Sound Of Music’: from the unbelievable stagecraft of stellar cast featuring actors and actresses both young and old, to the ageless, delightful music that gets stuck in every mind without any effort; from the lush sounding orchestra to the stunningly handcrafted sets that change effortlessly from a grey cathedral to the old Austrian impressiveness of the Von Trapp house; from the nostalgic tale about overcoming difficulty and an innocent love that blooms like the Edelweiss itself|delightful tale of love, resilience, and music|unforgettable tale that has been teaching the world to sing and fall in love for decades} to the powerhouse cast that embodies their parts with perfection, masterfully delivers the much-adored music, and steals hearts from the moment the curtain rises.
The song had it right: the hills are indeed alive with the sound of music, and this fall, you’ll sing once more.
