Is there a dress code?

There is no dress code at the theater. For all performances, attire should be comfortable and appropriate for the occasion and weather.

How early can I get in before showtime?

Doors open 45 minutes prior to performance and doors to the theater open 30 minutes prior.

What is the food and beverage policy?

No outside food or drink is permitted in the theater.

What kind of food and beverages do they serve at the theater?

Snacks, such as candy, pretzels, popcorn. They also have water and soft drinks, as well as a bar that serves wine, beer and mixed drinks.

What happens if I arrive late?

Any patron who arrives late, or leaves the auditorium during the performance, will be seated at the discretion of the management staff.

Is the venue access friendly?

James M. Nederlander Theatre is accessible for patrons with accessible needs. There are assisted listening devices available at no cost. There are also Sign Interpreted, Audio Described, and Open Captioned performances. Please find the announced schedule here.

Is there an elevator?

There is an elevator located in the theater lobby that will provide service to the first section of the Balcony (Dress Circle), as well as the lower lobby level.

Is there a bag check available at the theater?

Yes, there is. Bag check is $2.00 per item.

Please note: For the comfort, safety and security of all patrons, Broadway In Chicago reserves the right to search bags for security reasons, regardless of size, but backpacks and other large bags that are approximately 10″ x 10″ or larger may be searched prior to entering the theater and as such could cause a delay. Should your bag be too large to fit under your seat, you will be required to check it.

What is the child policy?

As a courtesy to theater-goers, children under the age of 5 are not permitted to attend shows. Some shows will have specific age recommendations. Patrons are advised to consider these before bringing children. All patrons, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket.

Is there parking at the theater?

InterPark is the official parking garage of Broadway In Chicago. The address is: James M. Nederlander Theatre at 177 N. Wells St. Chicago, IL 60601. You can present your ticket stub at the parking garage to receive the special theater rate.

For the most convenient parking near the James M. Nederlander Theatre, consider using the Grant Park North Garage. During the winter months, visitors can access the indoor Chicago Pedway, exit on State St., and proceed west on Randolph to reach the theater.

The Grant Park North parking garage accepts both cash and credit cards. With an expansive 830,000 square feet, it offers a total of 1,850 parking spots. The clearance height for all vehicles is 6’6″.
